The California Highway Patrol closed Silverado Trail in the Napa area of California for about two hours on Thursday, July 23rd, following a car accident report of a multiple-vehicle crash that injured Marina Maher. The 19-year-old is a resident of the city.
The crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. north of Oak Knoll Avenue. The investigators said that a southbound van, driven by Francisco Garcia, 45, of Napa, started the chain of events that led to the incident. The man swerved into the path of Maher’s northbound BMW for unknown reasons.
The victim’s BMW swerved onto the shoulder of the roadway to avoid a collision, but she ended up losing control of it, causing the car to rotate into the southbound lane. It placed her directly in the path of a pickup truck driven by Arnoldo Villegas, a 40-year-old resident of Fairfield, who slowed down to avoid crashing against the teenager.
The BMW driver struck the front of the pickup, pushing it back into an unidentified car model driven by Ismael Caro, 59, of Vallejo. Maher sustained severe wounds, and the medics took her to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment. There’s no update of her condition at this time.
The CHP said that the four motorists were wearing seatbelts at the time, and they did not appear under the influence in any capacity. The collision led to the closure of Silverado Trail between Oak and Yountville Cross Road while the investigators concluded their preliminary inquiry and cleared the scene.
