On Tuesday, June 16th, the Merced County Coroner’s Office, Merced County, California, identified the woman who died in a solo crash last Thursday, June 11th. The car accident report update disclosed the victim’s name as Nina Deering, 34, of San Diego.

Deputy Daryl Allen, with the county sheriff’s office, said that the victim passed away from injuries sustained in the collision on Interstate 5 south of Gustine. According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a solo vehicle crash at about 12:05 p.m., and a preliminary investigation uncovered that Deering was the only occupant of her car.

The woman was driving a 2012 Hyundai Accent at an unknown speed southbound on Interstate 5 in the number one lane south of Butts Road. For unknown reasons, the car veered off the roadway into the east dirt shoulder, struck a metal guardrail, and rested in the center median.

The paramedics took Deering to Memorial Hospital Los Banos, where she succumbed to her injuries. The CHP said that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred, and they ruled out drugs or alcohol as contributing factors.

A single-vehicle crash is one of the leading causes of crash-related deaths. This type of accident occurs for several reasons that are either human-made or caused by external influences. The two covers speeding, driving drunk, drowsiness, recklessness, distracted driving, adverse road or weather conditions, animal sighting, manufacturer’s defect, or an underlying medical condition.
