The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday, September 3rd, revealed the identity of the passenger killed in a car accident in Sunnyvale, California. Michelle Bernabe Hernandez, 13, of South Bay, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The car accident report showed that 18-year-old Bryan Gonzalez-Lopez drove the vehicle involved in the occurrence. It happened before 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, August 30th. The Sunnyvale Police said that the driver traveled on the eastbound lanes of Central Expressway.

The roadway is between Mary Avenue and Bernardo Avenue. The investigators said that the car flipped for reasons they have not uncovered, killing Hernandez. Gonzalez-Lopez sustained non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment in a hospital.

The police determined that the teenage driver was intoxicated at the crash and placed him under arrest. They booked him into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. The accident remains under investigation.
