Miguel Garcia

On Monday, February 17th, Miguel Garcia, 47, crashed his car into a silo at about 7:41 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, he was alone in his vehicle, and the crash did not involve anyone else.

The wreck happened near the intersection of Santa Fe and East Child’s Avenue. Garcia was heading north in a ’98 Honda Civic and was going beyond the speed limit.

He lost control of the Honda when it failed to slow down, and went through the intersection at top speed. The car traveled about a hundred feet off the road before crashing into a cement grain silo.

When first responders got to the scene, Garcia was unresponsive, having sustained severe trauma. He got flown to the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, where he is still receiving treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and have asked witnesses to come forward. There appears not to be any impairment on the part of Garcia at the time of this report.

Disobeying stop signs and traffic laws is one of the common causes of accidents in California. Traffic accidents are the third cause of death, and it kills one person every forty hours.

Most of the traffic accidents in CA happen on the freeways and intersections. The common causes include driving under the influence, driving over the speed limit, and driving through red lights.

The speed limit for California highways is 65 mph unless otherwise stated. For two-lane undivided roads, the limit is 55 mph, 15 mph for alleys at blind intersections and blind railway crossings, and 25 mph in residence, business, and school districts.
