Motorcycle Crash in Jurupa Valley Kills Lawrence Weston

22-year-old Lawrence Weston of Riverside died in a motorcycle crash in Jurupa Valley, California, on Thursday, September 3rd. The accident report placed the time of the occurrence at about 1:10 p.m. at Etiwanda Avenue and Jurupa Road.

The Jurupa Valley Police reported that Weston’s motorcycle crashed against a mid-size sports utility vehicle. When medical personnel arrived at the crash site, they found the victim lying on the roadway and performed CPR.

The medics were unable to resuscitate the man, and they pronounced him dead at the scene. The two occupants of the SUV suffered minor wounds. The police did not cite anyone for the accident, and the investigation is ongoing.

A motorcycle is one of California’s most operated vehicles, with over 800 000 registered motorcycle riders. The Cal-Department of Motor Vehicles advises motorcyclists to take a safety course before operating the two-wheeled drive, and wear a helmet compliant with the United States Department of Transportation guidelines, and safety apparel.

The safety course known as the Basic Rider Course (BRC) provides information for new and existing riders and consists of a 15-hour classroom and on-cycle program. The BRC is mandatory for those under the age of 21, but it is recommended to those 21 and older who wish to obtain a motorcycle license.

After obtaining the license, the DMV expects riders to be familiar with their bike and make themselves visible to other people on the roadway. Additionally, keep adequate space for passing and lane splitting, and be prepared to act timeously to prevent a crash.
