Motorist, Jason Leal Seriously Injured in Kern County Solo-Vehicle Crash

A tragic single-vehicle accident on Stubblefield Road in Kern County, California, left at least one victim battling for his life in a healthcare facility. Accident reports obtained from the California Highway Patrol confirmed that the incident took place on Wednesday, April 22.

According to the reports, the traffic crash involved a 2001 Toyota Camry, which drove off the highway at about 6 am.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Camry was driven by a 49-year-old San Luis Obispo man identified as Jason Leal, along Highway 33/Highway 166.

Upon approaching Stubblefield road, the vehicle suddenly veered into the north travel lanes on the highway and then lost control as it attempted an overcorrection back into the south lanes.

The car then skidded off the right shoulder of the roadway, collided with a barbed-wire fence on its path and struck a dirt embankment before finally coming to a halt about 50 feet from the high.

The operator of the vehicle, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, suffered major injuries.

Medics responding at the scene transported him to Kern Medical Center by air ambulance for treatment. His condition was not disclosed.

The accident reports ruled out drugs and alcohol as possible factors in the single-vehicle wreck.

Other factors that may have contributed to the traffic accident include overspeeding, improperly lit highway, potential road hazards, a fault in the vehicle in question, or distracted driving.
