The Napa County Sheriff’s Office, Napa, California, on Monday, March 23rd, identified the man who died in a tragic motorcycle accident. He is John Wayne Bauer Jr., 57, of Santa Rosa.
Bauer Jr. died from injuries sustained after he crashed his motorcycle. The sheriff’s office said that the deceased was heading north on Butts Canyon Road near Snell Valley Road in rural unincorporated Napa at about 4:40 p.m.
The man veered off the road for reasons the California Highway Patrol have not uncovered and ended up down an embankment. Paramedics who responded to a call about the accident tried to keep Bauer Jr. alive, but couldn’t.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene at about 5:11 p.m. The sheriff’s office spokesperson, Henry Wofford, said that they received a tip that Bauer Jr. was at a bar before getting on the road.
The deceased’s next-of-kin, when contacted about the accident, told the authorities that the man had a history of motorcycle crashes. The investigation into the crash remains active.
Drunk driving or driving under the influence of drugs is one of the leading causes of driver’s impairment, which results in accidents. In the state of California, road users are not to drive with more than .08 blood alcohol content.
A driver who has beyond that percentage is said to be driving under the influence, and when there’s no fatality or injury in an accident, he or she will only get fined. The driver will also have strikes against his or her driving record, and as well as suspension of his or her driver’s license.
