Oxnard Collision Ends the Life of Elva Andrade

Elver Cruz

A press release by the California Highway Patrol and the Ventura County Fire Department disclosed that a woman lost her life in a collision east of Oxnard, California. The crash happened on Monday night, June 22nd, and the accident report named Elva Andrade, 55, of Camarillo, as the fatal victim.

The CHP received a report about the incident shortly before 9:15 p.m. and dispatched officers to East Pleasant Valley Road near Laguna Road. The preliminary investigation uncovered that a Yamaha scooter and an Acura sedan were involved in the crash.

Andrade and a 7-year-old female passenger were riding the scooter when the driver of the Sedan crossed over the solid double yellow lines and collided head-on with them. The impact caused the woman and the minor to get ejected from the bike, and the older female passed away from her injuries at the crash site.

The girl suffered extensive injuries, and the paramedics transported her to the Ventura County Medical Center for treatment. The CHP said Andrade and the minor were wearing helmets when they crashed, and they determined that the driver of the Acura, identified as Jacob A. Caliboso, 21, was intoxicated.

Officers arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and felony gross vehicular manslaughter. There is no information on his bail conditions, and the investigation into the collision is ongoing. Anyone with helpful and relevant information should contact the Ventura Area CHP Office on the listed line.
