When it comes to operating motorcycles, riders must protect themselves by wearing a helmet compliant with the United States Department of Transportation guidelines. The headgear must be adequately fastened, have protection for the face and eye, and allow air passage.
Also, wear safety apparel consisting of ankle-length boots, full-fingered gloves, long pants, long-sleeve leather jackets, or reflective materials. Before mounting the two-wheeled drive, ensure the motorcycle is fit for the road and is in good working order.
To achieve the above, check tires for cracks and bulges, or signs of wear in the tread as low tire pressure or any defect can cause a blowout. Look for oil or gas leakage, test the headlights for low or high beams, and check the hydraulic and coolant fluids weekly.
