Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in a two-vehicle wreck late last week in Pomona.
Andreas Dimopoulos, 41, of Pomona, was killed the crash Friday, police said this weekend. No one else was injured, according to authorities.
The Pomona Police Department on Saturday said Dimopoulos at about 3:25 a.m. Friday was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Reservoir Street near the intersection with Ninth Street.
“The involved motorcycle rider appeared gravely injured,” Pomona police wrote in a local alert sent out at the time of the incident. “LA County Fire (Department personnel) arrived on the scene, but the victim had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.”
Police did not release the name of the person who drove the other vehicle involved in the wreck. The driver of the SUV reportedly stayed at the scene and worked with investigators.
A stretch of Reservoir Street had to be closed for several hours while police and other investigators worked at the scene.
Details about what led to the crash have not been released by authorities. However, they did say they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors.
