Police: Passenger Killed in Hercules Single-Vehicle Crash Was Cornell Miller Jr.

Authorities on Tuesday, April 7, disclosed the identity of a male passenger who died on Sunday morning in a car accident along San Pablo Avenue in Hercules, California, as Cornell Miller Jr., a 25-year-old man from Hercules. While the suspected DUI case remains under investigation, a car accident lawyer may be needed to ensure all probable causative factors are put into consideration.

The tragic crash took place at precisely 2 am on Sunday, April 5, between Sycamore and Tsushima avenues.

Responding officers found the single-vehicle involved in the accident in flames, engulfed by the branches of a tree located about 20 feet off the road.

Investigators determined that the vehicle, driven by a 28-year-old man whose name was withheld, was traveling through the roadway when it drifted several feet off the road and crashed into a tree.

Rodeo-Hercules Fire Department Personnel arrived at the scene and discovered Cornell Miller Jr. trapped in the passenger seat of the burning car. The driver, however, was sprawled on the center media at the time, with multiple injuries.

Despite attempts by the fire operatives to rescue the passenger, he died at the scene. The injured motorist was then airlifted to a hospital for treatment of his major injuries, including burns, lower left leg fracture, and internal injuries.

Officers believed the motorist was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the wreck. No arrest has been made.

Victims of car accidents, or their relatives, are encouraged to seek the counsel of a car accident lawyer as soon as possible to ascertain a proper assessment of the case.
