A motorcyclist died last weekend after a passing vehicle struck his motorcycle and knocked him to the ground in Pomona, California. The fatal collision, which requires the intervention of an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, was reported on Saturday, May 2.
California Highway Patrol officers were deployed to the Pomona (60) Freeway at about 5:40 am on reports of a traffic collision involving at least three vehicles, including a motorcycle and two cars, just west of Garey.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the involved vehicles was a 2008 Mercedes Benz CL550 traveling through the east traffic lanes on 60 Freeway. The operator of the Benz, a 29-year-old man from Compton, suddenly lost control of his car for unknown reasons and collided with a 2017 BMW motorcycle traveling on the same route.
The impact of the collision caused the motorcycle to be thrown onto the ground in the middle of the busy lanes of travel. Almost immediately, a passing 2019 Kia Sportage, operated by a 37-year-old female motorist from Lynwood, struck the disabled motorcycle and its rider.
The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Authorities disclosed the decedent’s identity as Julian Moors, 44, of Riverside.
The names of the two motorists were withheld from the public. Investigating officers believe that impairment by drugs and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain the cause of the tragic accident.
A motorcycle accident attorney can assist victims of motorcycle accidents or their families in assessing the case, and possibly, secure the maximum compensation for their damages.
