Quonia Singleton Killed in San Juan Capistrano Big-Rig and Sedan Crash

A 34-year-old woman was killed in a car crash on Saturday morning, February 29. The crash occurred on 5 Freeway in San Juan Capistrano, California.

The Orange County Coroner’s office revealed the identity of the crash’s victim as Quonia Singleton. She met her demise when, at about 3:30 a.m, her red Honda Civic collided with a big rig for unknown reasons on the San Diego (5) Freeway near Camino Capistrano.

According to the California Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred when the Honda Civic collided with the big rig which jackknifed. A vehicle jackknifes when it folds so much that it resembles the acute angle of a folding pocket knife.

Crashes with big rigs can cause severe damage to life and property. Use these tips to protect yourself.

Maintain a safe distance. It is advised that you keep a range as long as four car lengths behind a truck. Do not stay in a big rig’s blind spot for any reason.

Do not be in a hurry to overtake big rig; when you do overtake, do so at the left side and use a turn signal to announce your intention.

Give a big rig space to turn. If you notice a big rig wants to change lane or pull into an intersection, slow down and wait for it to complete its turn.

Report reckless drivers. Reporting a reckless truck driver is beneficial to you and other road users. The less reckless drivers on the road, the less likely an accident will occur.
