Rachel Miller, Aaron Hardy, and Aubree Hardy Identified as Victims of Ontario Collision

The three people who died in a traffic collision in Ontario, California, have been identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner. On Wednesday, June 17th, the coroner revealed the victims’ names as Rachel Miller, 27, of San Dimas,  Aaron Hardy, 25, of Fontana, and Aubree Hardy, 5, of San Dimas.

The accident report by the California Highway Patrol disclosed that the collision occurred on Tuesday, June 16th, about 9:30 a.m. Officer Jesus Garcia said that the minivan the trio were traveling in, a 2002 Chrysler Voyager, was struck from behind by a semi-truck on the eastbound 10 Freeway west of Haven Avenue.

The preliminary investigation uncovered that Rachel, Aaron, and Aubree’s vehicle stopped for traffic. Witnesses said a big rig coming from behind at 60 miles per hour in heavy traffic was unable to brake and rear-ended the smaller vehicle. The semi pushed the minivan into the trailer of another big rig.

The victims sustained severe wounds and an Ontario Fire Department Personnel declared them dead at the scene. The semi driver, identified as a Van Nuys man, sustained moderate injuries and received treatment at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton. The investigation into the accident remains active.

A rear-end collision is one of the common types of motor vehicle accidents that mostly ends fatally. Others are head-on and broadsided collisions, as well as single-vehicle crashes. Drivers should mitigate factors that might lead to any of the preceding and drive carefully always.
