Rene Valdez Survives State Route 41 Collison with Severe Injuries

At about 4:26 a.m. on Thursday, August 6th, the California Highway Patrol responded to a rollover crash on State Route 41 in the Madera area of California. In the accident report, the investigators stated that the incident led to one fatality, and a man identified as Rene Valdez, of Fresno, suffered injuries.

The incident took place north of Road 406, also known as the rocky court area. Officers from the Madera Area CHP office and medical personnel responded to the call about the occurrence. Upon arrival, they discovered that a 27-year-old male from Fresno began the events that led to the incident.

The man drove a Dodge Durango south on the highway at an unknown speed. He crossed over into the northbound lane for an undetermined reason, and entered directly into the part of a 2007 Nissan Altima, driven by Valdez. The vehicles collided head-on, and the investigators noted that the second driver drove at 45 miles per hour.

The Dodge driver suffered fatal wounds, which he succumbed to at the scene, and the medics pronounced him dead. The CHP will release his name after notifying his next-of-kin. Two passengers in the man’s vehicle escaped the accident unscathed.

Valdez suffered severe injuries and medics transported him to Madera Community Hospital for treatment. The highway patrol blocked SR-1 for approximately 2 hours while they gathered evidence and cleared the scene. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to have contributed to the accident, and the investigation is ongoing.
