Robert Stockton Killed in Riverside Vehicle-Pedestrian Crash


In recent reports of a car accident in Riverside, California, authorities confirmed the death of a man who died after a vehicle struck him. The incident took place on Wednesday, May 13.

Officers responded to the crash shortly after 10:55 a.m., on reports of a jogger left unconscious with serious injuries after a car ran him over. Ryan Railsback of the Riverside Police said it happened on Victoria Avenue, between Horace Street and Lincoln Avenue. The motorist involved notified authorities of the highway crash.

Investigations conducted at the scene showed that the fatal victim, identified as Robert Stockton, 64, was jogging westbound on Victoria. For unknown reasons, a 2014 Dodge minivan, driven by a 65-year-old woman resident in Riverside, approached and struck him from behind.

When the emergency response team arrived, they found Stockton sprawled unresponsive on the roadway. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. The elderly motorist was unharmed in the crash. She stayed at the location of the accident until law enforcement arrived, and remained cooperative during the interrogation.

Railsback said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to have contributed to the fatal collision. An investigation into the tragic occurrence is underway.
