Andrew Haslem Sustains Injuries in Vehicle-Bicycle Collision in Santa Barbara

A bicyclist was injured over the weekend after he was struck by a moving car while riding his bike along the roadway in Santa Barbara, California. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, May 2, leaves the victim with legal claims to pursue a personal injury lawsuit under the guidance of a bicycle accident attorney.

The California Highway Patrol was called to the scene of an accident on Highway 154, at about 9:45 am, where they discovered the injured bicyclist.

Preliminary investigations revealed that prior to the crash, the victim was riding his bicycle down on Highway 154. Just as he neared the San Antonio Creek Road, an oncoming Toyota Prius collided with him, causing the rider and his bike to crash to the ground.

The cyclist suffered severe injuries in the crash and was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via an American Medical Response ambulance, for treatment.

Authorities disclosed the injured man’s name as Andrew Haslem, a 22-year-old Los Altos man, who is reportedly a student of UC Santa Barbara. The victim’s present condition was not disclosed in the report.

The identity and condition of the motorist that struck the cyclist were not immediately disclosed.

Police said Haslem had been training as a professional cyclist for the upcoming July Three Peaks Bike Race.

Victims of bicycle accidents are encouraged to seek legal counsel from an experienced bicycle accident attorney who could help them get the appropriate compensation for damages.
