Brian Watana Arrested for DUI Incident That Left One Dead and Three Injured

One suspect has been arrested in Santa Barbara, California following an alleged DUI crash along Highway 154 that killed one victim, leaving three others injured. Authorities on Thursday, April 9, detained the alleged drunk motorist for DUI-related charges which may be reviewed by a drunk driving attorney.

The traffic collision occurred at precisely 6 pm, near Painted Cave Road. The California Highway Patrol reported that two vehicles, a Mazda sedan and an SUV, were travelling on Highway 154 when one of the cars t-boned the other on the passenger side.

The impact of the broadside collision caused severe damages to the Mazda, leaving one of its occupants pinned inside.

Rescue teams from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded at the scene of the crash and rescued the trapped commuter from the wreckage.

The male occupant, seated in the front right passenger’s side, was critically injured and was rushed to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after commencing treatment.

Three other victims were also injured in the crash and have remained hospitalised with minor to moderate wounds.

Authorities identified the driver of the SUV as Brian Dul Watana, a 22-year-old resident of Goleta, while the names of the other victims, including the deceased, were not disclosed.

CHP officers ascertained that Watana was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the crash. The suspect was taken into police custody where he faces charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

While the fatal occurrence remains under investigation, a drunk driving attorney may be called upon to ensure the client is well represented.
