Pyon Huesok Arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Injuring Pedestrian

An alleged DUI motorist who ended up in police custody this week for injuring a pedestrian and fleeing the accident scene would need the services of a drunk driving attorney. The California Highway Patrol recorded the incident on Wednesday morning, June 10, in Santa Ynez, California.

The CHP responded to the scene just after 9:30 a.m. on reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. It happened near the Chumash Casino Resort on Highway 246 at Casino Drive, where the victim had been reportedly directing traffic.

Responding officers gathered that the suspect was operating a 2004 Honda Odyssey in the area. For reasons still under investigation, the motorist drove his vehicle towards the man and struck him. The victim suffered injuries in the collision.

Officials from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department also responded at the scene. They found the victim in the area with minor injuries. Paramedics accompanying the firefighters conveyed the injured man to Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital for treatment. The CHP reports failed to disclose the identity of the victim, but officials confirmed he was a Chumash Casino Resorts employee.

Meanwhile, the motorist involved, 53-year-old Pyon Huesok, of Paramount failed to stop at the scene. CHP officers eventually caught up with him near the intersection of Highway 154 and Armour Ranch Road. They determined that he was under the influence of an illicit substance and took him into custody.

Huesok now faces charges of DUI and felony hit-and-run and may require representation by a drunk driving attorney.
