On Wednesday, September 2nd, the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed in a traffic accident in Turlock, California. Saul Alvarez-Olivera, 37, died from injuries sustained in the two-vehicle collision.
The accident report placed the time of the occurrence around 10:54 a.m. on Saturday, August 29th. The crash happened at the intersection of Crows Landing Road and Linwood Avenue, and the events leading to it began with a maroon 2006 Toyota Tacoma driven by Alvarez-Olivera.
The victim traveled westbound on Linwood when he failed to stop at a red light and collided with a blue 2007 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Robert Paul Boykin, 53, of Gilroy. The second vehicle was westbound on Crows before the collision.
The force of the crash caused the Tacoma and the Silverado to spin out of control. Medics pronounced Alvarez-Olivera dead at the scene. Robert and his passenger, 51-year-old Ronda Boykin, sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
The Turlock Police Department said that the three people involved in the incident wore their seat belts. They noted that alcohol or drugs do not appear to have factored in any capacity. The accident remains under investigation, and there’s no additional information at this time.
Running red lights or stop signs is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle collisions. It is an offense for a driver to do the preceding under the California Vehicle Code, and offenders are liable to pay a fine.
