A car accident lawyer would come in handy following the identification of two women killed in a traffic collision in west Riverside, California. The Riverside County Coroner’s office, on Monday, May 18, named the victims as Sharlene Ayala, 19 and Patricia Romero, 63, both of Riverside.

The Riverside Police Department deployed officers to the site of the collision after witnesses called to report the incident. The crash happened at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15, on Central Avenue, near Montclair Drive.

Preliminary reports showed the accident involved a newer model Jeep, operated by a 28-year-old man. The Jeep was traveling westbound on Central Avenue. For unknown reasons, it veered into the east traffic lanes, and onto the path of an oncoming Toyota Corolla. The two cars collided as a result.

Sharlene Ayala, who was behind the wheel of the Corolla at the time suffered fatal injuries in the two-vehicle collision. First responders pronounced her dead at the scene. The sole passenger in the compact vehicle, Patricia Romero, suffered major injuries. Medics transported the 63-year-old to Riverside Community Hospital, where she eventually gave in to her wounds while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the unidentified operator of the SUV sustained only minor injuries. Deputies have not charged him with any traffic violation at this time. An investigation into the incident remains in the works.

Authorities urged witnesses with helpful information regarding the crash to get in touch with the RPD traffic bureau.

It is essential for victims of traffic collisions, or their families, to seek counsel from a car accident lawyer.
