Sharon Pelagio And Kieth Silva Hospitalized After Head-On Car Collision In Willows

At least two women were injured following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 162, West of County Road FF in Willows, California. The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 4, and led to the arrest of one of the motorists involved in the crash for suspected DUI.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident took place at midday and involved two female motorists identified as Sharon Pelagio, a 53-year-old woman from Chico, and 43-year-old Kieth Silva of Sparks, Nevada.

Describing the incident, the CHP reported that a Ford Pickup was travelling West on Highway 162, off County road. At the same time, an eastbound vehicle, a Chevy Sedan, was plying the Highway, moving towards the pickup.

The driver of the sedan suddenly drifted off-course, making a miscalculated turn that caused her vehicle to veer into the wrong lane, on the path of the Ford.

As a result of the impact, the pickup overturned and halted along the road, while the other vehicle stopped north, across the road and collided with a power pole.

Both women sustained non-life-threatening injuries as a result. While the Chevy was driven by Sharon Pelagio, the second woman, Keith Silva, drove the Ford, which was confirmed to be a CDC state vehicle.

Investigations into the incident revealed that the Sedan driver was responsible for the crash and allegedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol or both. Sharon Pelagio has since been arrested for suspected DUI.
