On Monday night, September 21st, a woman went off the roadway on East Burlington Street in Riverside, California, and crashed into a tree. The Riverside Police Department said that Sheila J. Morganti, 52, of Brookfield, was intoxicated when she drove on the sidewalk in front of La Barra restaurant.
The police charged her with driving under the influence of drugs amid other things, and she would need a top accident lawyer’s services. The crash report showed that Morganti’s car left the roadway on the northside of La Barra.
When officers arrived, they found the suspect sitting inside the car, smoking a cigarette with the engine still running. The police said that Morganti could barely keep her eyes open, and she slurred her speech.
A drug recognition officer determined that she was under the influence of drugs, not alcohol. The woman allegedly admitted to ingesting marijuana, Xanax, and heroin before getting behind the wheel of her vehicle. The police took her to the hospital, and she was released hours later.
The police added that they later discovered that the woman struck an electric street lamp on Longcommon Road. There is no additional information.
