A fatal crash on Highway 160 in the Sacramento area of California claimed the lives of three commuters. The fatal occurrence which took place early on Tuesday, April 14, may require the expertise of an experienced car accident lawyer.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash site at about 6:50 am, following reports of a two-vehicle collision in the Sacramento River Delta.

Responding officers discovered two severely wrecked vehicles, including a sedan and a pickup truck, with at least five casualties.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the Sedan was northbound on state route 160, near Sherman Island Cross Road.

The driver of the Sedan lost control of the vehicle, and drove it into the southbound traffic lanes, directly on the path of an oncoming pickup truck.

The truck collided with the northbound sedan, brutally striking the front passenger side, and causing major injuries to its occupants.

At least three people were present in the sedan at the time of the crash. One of the passengers, identified as Alice Tarae Acoff, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the two occupants in the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the traffic collision.

Police believe that drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the fatal accident. The CHP is still investigating the case to ascertain the cause of the fatal crash.
