Timothy Sonnenburg Identified as the Man in Chico Motorcycle Accident

The authorities on Thursday, February 20th, identified the man who got killed in the motorcycle-versus-vehicle crash in Chico, California. They revealed his name as Timothy Sonnenburg, 66.

Sonnenberg sustained severe injuries from the accident but was alive at the time he got transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds. The coroner has listed the cause of death as an accident resulting from trauma.

The deceased was driving his motorcycle on Wednesday afternoon, February 19th, when he crashed at about 4 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, he was traveling on Forest Avenue near Amanda Way.

Sonnenburg was driving in the wrong way, and a motorist called 911 to report him. Before the police could respond to the report, the deceased crashed his bike against two oncoming vehicles.

The names of the drivers of the affected vehicles were not released, and there’s no information on whether or not they got injured. The police and the CHP are investigating the crash.

At the time of this report, they have not provided any additional information on the accident. But the authorities believe that a medical condition might have led the older man to crash his motorcycle.

Motorcycle accidents are caused by several reasons. It ranges from the rider being intoxicated with either drug or alcohol to over speeding and driving on the wrong lane.

Statistics have shown that nearly 75% of all motorcycle accidents involve a collision with a car. It often leads to fatalities, and the best way to avoid accidents is by obeying traffic laws and maintaining the proper lane and speed.
