The identification of two motorists who died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision in Lake Isabella, California, calls for the intervention of auto accident attorneys. The Kern County Coroner’s Office, on Wednesday, May 13, named the deceased drivers as Elisa Renee Pappas, 34, and Henry Milton Liebel, 84.
In a press statement, the coroner’s office affirmed that the two vehicles involved collided. Pappas and Liebel were each operating one of the two cars involved. The statement confirmed that a third person also died in the crash, which occurred just before 3 p.m., at Yankee Canyon Drive.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the cars was a 1998 Ford Escort, driven by Pappas. The female motorist was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed along State Route 178. The California Highway Patrol said the Escort suddenly went out of control and veered into oncoming traffic, onto the path of a 2002 Toyota Tacoma. The two vehicles collided head-on.
Liebel was behind the wheels of the second car, with a sole passenger, Sandra Merle Liebel, 78. Both occupants of the Tacoma suffered fatal injuries. When the emergency response team arrived, they attempted to save the victims, but all three commuters involved succumbed to their wounds before they could receive medical aid.
Officers believe speed was a factor in the crash but were unable to establish whether impairment or distracted driving contributed.
The liability of the crash appears clear on Pappas’ side since she was violating a traffic rule by driving at an unsafe speed. Therefore, the families of the other victims can pursue a legal suit, using a wrongful death claim, with the help of auto accident attorneys.
