Tysa Laupua Identified as the Driver Hospitalized After Gustine Two-Vehicle Collision

The driver who sustained injuries and ended up in the hospital after a two-vehicle collision north of Gustine, California, has been identified. The California Highway Patrol on Thursday, July 16th, named Tysa Laupua, 50,  a city resident as the injured victim.

Facts from the car accident report place the accident’s location at the intersection of Highway 33 and Bambauer Road. It happened at approximately 5 a.m. on Friday, July 10th. Laupua was eastbound on Bambauer when she ran a red light at the road’s intersection with the highway.

The act caused the woman’s 2017 Chevrolet Equinox to collide with a 2003 Ford F350 driven by Zenadio Banuelos, 46, of Gustine, northbound on Highway 33. The CHP said that Laupua complained of head pain and hand bruising. Medics transported her to Emanuel Medical Center for treatment.

There is currently no additional information about the crash, and the investigation is ongoing. Car collisions at intersections occur mostly due to drivers’ lack of patience, which makes them commit errors. The latter covers making a left turn across the path of an oncoming vehicle, committing a stop sign violation, and disobeying a traffic signal.

Drivers can avoid the errors by driving defensively even when they have the right of way, stopping entirely at stop signs and proceeding only when it is safe to do so. Stop at red lights even when turning right, stop for pedestrians, slow down, and never speed up to make a yellow light.
