Man Who Died in Traffic Accident in Kern County Identified as Vicente Rodriguez

The Kern County Coroner’s office has disclosed the identity of the man who died last week after driving his vehicle into a tree located off the roadway on Highway 99 in Bakersfield, California. As stated in the new accident reports provided on Tuesday, April 14, the deceased driver was Vicente Rodriguez, 36, of Corcoran.

According to the county coroner’s office, the fatal occurrence took place on Friday, April 10, along state Highway 99.

Deputies were deployed to the crash site just after 6:30 am, following reports of a tragic crash along the highway which left the critically injured victim trapped in his dented vehicle.

Investigators determined that Vicente Rodriguez was driving his vehicle through the south travel lanes of the highway prior to the crash.

For reasons yet unknown, the vehicle suddenly drifted off the roadway and crashed into a tree on its path. As a result, the motorist suffered multiple severe injuries.

Emergency responders rushed the accident victim to Kern County Medical Center for treatment. The victim eventually succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced dead at about 7:05 am, police said.

The accident reports did not specify whether drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the single-vehicle collision, which remains under investigation.

Other possible causative factors that would be considered in the investigation include distracted driving, overspeeding, improperly lit highway, underlying medical conditions or a fault in the vehicle.
