A vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident occurs daily in California, with a significant number of fatalities. Most of the crashes occur at intersections, while about 69% happen on roadways and highways.
A common cause of the vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident is driving in low-light conditions, especially at night. The highest number occurs between 6 and 9 p.m. with 9 p.m. till midnight being the second highest.
Age and gender also play a vital role in a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident. Children and older people usually get hit more than people of other ages, especially from 14 years and below, and 65 years and above.
Another contributing factor to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian accident is the driver’s impairment. The latter includes driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and distracted driving also plays a role.
