Victor Johanson Identified as Victim of Clovis Accident

The Clovis Police Department, 7 miles from Fresno, California, on Sunday, March 1st, identified the man who died in an auto-vehicle accident. They released his name as 71-year-old Victor Johanson.

Johanson was involved in what the police described as a single-vehicle crash at about 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 29th. The accident happened near Shaw and Minnewawa streets.

Authorities got a 911 call about the accident, and on arriving at the scene, they found the deceased trapped in the driver’s seat. Firefighters at the scene worked to extricate Johanson from the wrecked vehicle and succeeded.

A waiting ambulance took the then-injured man to the hospital, where he later died from his wounds. There were two young children, whose name the police did not release, in the vehicle with Johanson.

The two were not injured in the crash, and the police have not stated if the two are related to Johanson. The cause of the crash remains a mystery, and the authorities are still investigating.

So far, alcohol and drugs do not seem to be a likely cause of the accident. Older people can drive well into their 80s and beyond, but an accident among older people is not uncommon.

Several issues contribute to the cause of accidents among older people, and authorities have provided tips to keep them safe. Older drivers should always have their seat belts on and adjust the shoulder mount or buy a shoulder pad when feeling uncomfortable.

Mute cell phones while driving; do not drink and drive, and avoid eating. Always watch the road, avoid distractions, drive during the day, and never get behind the wheel when the weather is terrible.
