Woman Killed in Oakland Hit-and-Run Accident Identified as Mable Hill


The authorities in Oakland, California, have identified the woman whose life ended when a hit-and-run driver ran her down. The coroner on Wednesday, March 25th, identified the woman as 65-year-old Mable Hill.

The coroner said that the woman who is an Oakland resident died from the injuries sustained after she was hit by a moving vehicle. The woman had just gotten out of a parked car on March 10th when she was struck.

The accident occurred at about 6:54 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Bancroft Avenue near 62nd Avenue. The vehicle that struck the woman was also heading west on the road, and the driver kept driving without stopping to check on Hill.

Hill sustained severe trauma, which she died from at the scene. The paramedics at the scene pronounced her before transporting her body to the coroner for an autopsy.

The Oakland Police Department later put out a description of a late ’90s Toyota Camry as the vehicle involved in the accident. The car is white or beige colored and has a possible front-end damage, but the identity of the driver remains unknown.

The police and Oakland Crime Stoppers have offered a $10 000 reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the driver. Anyone with helpful details should call the police on its listed line or Crime Stoppers if the person wishes to remain anonymous.

A driver who commits a hit-and-run is criminally liable under California law and upon conviction faces jail time and a fine.
