Authorities: Bicyclist Henry Guzman Killed In Colorado Springs Crash

A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle Tuesday night in Colorado Springs has since died from his injuries, authorities reported Wednesday.

Henry G. Guzman, 65, of Colorado Springs, was pronounced dead after the crash, which occurred at about 8 p.m. near Wahsatch Avenue and Uintah Street, police said. No other injuries were reported as a result of the wreck.

Investigators said Guzman and the other vehicle involved in the crash were heading north on Wahsatch Avenue when the crash occurred. The driver, whom authorities did not publicly identify, reportedly remained at the scene and assisted in the investigation.

Emergency responders transported Guzman to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries, police said Wednesday.

No charges or citations were announced by authorities, and the investigation is ongoing. Police told local media outlets that neither speed nor intoxication are thought to have contributed to the crash.

Leaders from UpaDowna, a Colorado Springs nonprofit that encourages outdoor adventuring, in a Facebook post said they are “absolutely heartbroken” to learn of the death of Guzman, “a dear friend and loyal supporter.”

“Henry came to tons of our events,” officials wrote in the post, adding “he will be truly missed. Ride on buddy, ride on.”
