Daniel Blackmore Dies in Savannah, Georgia Construction Accident

Daniel Wayne Blackmore, 20, of Springfield, Georgia died at what officials are calling an accident at a construction site in Savannah on January 6, 2020.

Blackmore was working with D.E.A. Construction off the President Street Extension at 100 SeaPoint Boulevard. This is the site of the former Tronox Plant, an old gypsum factory.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 11:41 a.m. Monday, after a heavy piece of equipment rolled over Blackmore. Fire crews worked to release his body from the rubble until Monday evening.

Chatham County Coroner’s Office and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the accident. The coroner says that Blackmore’s body will be released to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further examination.
