Alleged Drunk Driver, Alexx Joseph Rezendes Detained After Crashing Into Curb in Wareham

Joshua Danford

Police confirmed the arrest of a suspected drunk driver, who almost crashed into an Ambulance conveying an indisposed person in Wareham, Massachusetts. An experienced drunk driving attorney’s expertise would come in handy following the arrest in connection with the Monday evening incident.

Wareham Police Department dispatched officers to the scene, on reports of a solo vehicle crash on Sandwich Road. Reports confirmed it happened at about 7:30 p.m. on May 25.

Responding officers discovered a man putting up aggressive displays at the scene. The officers reported that the man eventually directed his anger at two lawmen present at the time, shouting expletives at them.

Police disclosed in the reports that the man had been driving a vehicle erratically on Sandwich Road. They said he crossed the centre divider into opposite lanes at some point, and struck a curb before overcorrecting. His vehicle then struck a guardrail. A Wareham Emergency  Medical Services Ambulance plying the route at the time barely missed a head-on collision with the erratic driver.

The suspect, identified as Alexx Joseph Rezendes, 22, of Wareham, then tried to continue on his way home, but only made it a few blocks. Witnesses told officers that Joseph kept swerving between lanes before the near-fatal incident.

Deputies detained Rezendes on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, possessing an open container of liquor in a vehicle, operating to endanger and a marked lane violation. He also faces charges of failure to inspect vehicle, speeding, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

He remains in custody and requires representation by a drunk driving attorney during his court appearance.
