The Marshfield Police Department is investigating the death of a man who passed on from fatal injuries sustained when his all-terrain vehicle crashed in the Marshfield area of Massachusetts. Accident reports confirm that the incident was recorded on Wednesday afternoon, April 29.
Marshfield officers were deployed to the crash location at about 2:41 pm after a distress call came in reporting a dirt bike accident near the town’s Bridle Path that left a man bleeding from his neck and head.
When officers arrived, they found the scene as described, but discovered that the vehicle in question was a red ATV, not a dirt bike, as the caller reported.
Investigators determined that the victim, later identified as Anthony Gill, 23, of Marshall, was riding alone on the red four-wheeled vehicle when the crash happened. The events leading to the crash are yet to be established.
Following the accident, Anthony Gill ended up unconscious on the roadway, beside his red Honda ATV, which had its engine still running. The victim was transported to South Shore Hospital, where he eventually gave in to his injuries at about 4:53 pm, as supplied in the accident reports.
Authorities did not disclose whether impairment appeared to have contributed to the tragic collision.
Officers from the Massachusetts State Police Department, State Police Crime Scene Services Section, Environmental Police, and Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section assisted in the investigation.
The Plymouth District Attorney’s Office confirmed that no foul play was suspected in the incident.
