Authorities have released the name of the man killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night in Charlemont.

Christopher Nichols, 32, of Ashfield, died from injuries sustained in the wreck, which occurred at about 10 p.m. Saturday on Potters Road Extension, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. Car accident reports list him as a passenger in the vehicle that crashed into a ditch.

Authorities said the vehicle’s driver, who was not identified in car accident reports, was traveling on Potters Road Extension at about 10 p.m. Saturday when he lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the roadway and went into a ditch, where it crashed, according to investigators.
