Fatal Bicycle Crash in Arlington Kills Charles Proctor

At least two bicyclists suffered severe injuries on Tuesday night, May 5, after an auto vehicle struck them while riding along a roadway. The auto-bicycle collision, which later claimed the life of the cyclists, took place in Arlington, Massachusetts, and would require the intervention of a bicycle accident attorney.

Arlington authorities reported at the scene of the fatal collision at about 5:30 p.m. on reports of a crash involving two bicycles and a car. Middlesex District Attorney, Marian Ryan, and Arlington Police Chief Julie Flaherty both confirmed that the crash left the two victims sprawled on the roadway. A motorist driving a Hyundai Sonata was also involved in the collision on Massachusetts Avenue and Appleton Street.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two cyclists were eastbound on Massachusetts Avenue, while the Hyundai was westbound when the crash happened. The reports did not disclose further details about the preluding events.

One of the victims, identified as Charles Proctor, 27, of Summerville, was gravely injured. First responders rushed him to Lahey Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The other was a female, aged 32, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Medic transported her to an area hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the male motorist that struck Proctor and the other victim stayed at the scene. Deputies found a loaded shotgun in his trunk when they searched the vehicle. As a result, the 27-year-old Cambridge man would likely appear in a Cambridge             District Court, on an undisclosed date, on a charge of possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

The reports did not disclose whether the Cambridge man would be charged for the auto-bicycle accident. However, the victims can decide to press charges, using a bicycle accident attorney. If found liable for the traffic collision, the motorist may likely face charges of injury and manslaughter.
