Malcolm Dorsey Arrested On Weapons Charges After Roxbury Crash

Police early Friday morning arrested a man on weapons charges after the vehicle in which he was riding crashed into a cement utility pole in Roxbury.

Malcolm Dorsey, 27, of Roxbury, was arrested on multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm, the Boston Police Department reported. He and two others who were in the vehicle at the time of the crash declined medical treatment at the scene, according to car accident reports.

Police were called to investigate a report of a fight near Howard Avenue and Woodcliff Street at about 12:30 a.m. Friday. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw Dorsey and two women arguing in the street, car accident reports state.

Dorsey and the women, who were not identified in car accident reports, allegedly drove off in a vehicle when they noticed the police presence. The car sped off, but it soon crashed into a light pole on Melnea Cass Boulevard, authorities said.

All three people were removed from the car, but they declined medical treatment, car accident reports state. During a search of the vehicle, officers said they found a loaded gun that had been reported stolen from Alabama.

Dorsey was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and receiving stolen property, Boston police said. The driver of the vehicle, who was not identified, also was issued several citations, but was released at the scene.
