The services of a drunk driving attorney would come in handy following the arrest of an alleged drunk driver who crashed his vehicle into a traffic light in Milford, Massachusetts. The incident leading to the arrest played out on Saturday night, May 30.

The Milford Police Department responded to a location just before midnight, on reports of an erratic driver who crashed his vehicle into a traffic sign. Police said that the man caused serious damages to the traffic light, and failed to stop at the scene until they intercepted him a few yards away.

Preliminary reports showed the motorist, identified as Patricio Mota, 43, of Milford, was traveling through Water Street. The man suddenly drove his Nissan Altima into the traffic light positioned at the intersection of Water and Main Streets. The pole became dislodged and smashed into a Honda Civic parked near the traffic light.

According to the reports, Mota pulled up from the obstacle and pushed forward. He turned into the adjoining Franklin Street and drove his vehicle towards the Milford Police headquarters. Officers eventually apprehended Morta as he crossed the intersection of Franklin and Chestnut streets.

DUI detectives determined the driver was under the influence at the time of the collision. They booked him on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, resisting arrest, and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in property damage.

Motorists facing DUI-related charges can contact a drunk driving attorney for counsel and representation.
