Massachusetts State Police said a trooper out on a patrol Wednesday “happened upon” the scene of a serious motorcycle crash on U.S. 90 in Boston.
The trooper found Stephen Salazar, 32, of Jamaica Plain, suffering from serious injuries, according a post on the Massachusetts State Police news blog. Emergency responders from Boston were called to assist at the scene, but they ultimately declared that Salazar had died from his injuries.
The preliminary investigation suggests that Salazar was driving his motorcycle east on U.S. 90 when he attempted to turn onto the Exit 18 off-ramp. Authorities said that “for reasons unknown at this time,” Salazar failed to make the turn, causing his motorcycle to overturn.
No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the wreck and no one else was injured, according to authorities.
The ramp remained closed for about two hours while investigators worked at the scene. Troopers were assisted by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Boston Fire and EMS.
Aiding in the investigation are State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section.
