Ronald Barrett, 82, of Las Vegas died of his injuries after a GardaWorld armored truck ran him over on December 17.
The incident took place in Las Vegas Valley in front of WinCo Foods at 6101 North Decatur Boulevard at about 1:53 p.m.
Barrett was driving a store-owned motorized cart on the sidewalk . At the same time, an armored truck was stopped alongside the sidewalk, waiting for the passenger who was returning from the store.
As Barrett maneuvered the motorized cart into the parking lot, the armored truck driver pulled forward and collided with the cart.
The collision knocked over both Barrett and the motorized cart. However, the armored car driver continued driving forward, running over Barrett, despite bystanders who tried to alert him to stop. Barrett suffered severe blunt-force trauma injuries as a result. Responding paramedics transported him to University Medical Center’s Trauma Center, where he died.
