A train versus pedestrian crash in the Steilacoom area of Washington left a pedestrian fatally injured last week, as per accident reports. The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday, April 27, Identified the victim as Askia Rommul Williams, a 33-year-old man believed to be homeless at the time.

The collision took place on the evening of Wednesday, April 22. The Pierce County authorities learned of the fatality at about 6:30 pm after it was called in by eyewitnesses.

According to the reports, the train involved was an Amtrak train traveling through Sunnyside Beach. The locomotive was en route to Seattle from Portland when it encountered Williams in a non-pedestrian designated area of the railway.

The reports stated that Askia Rommul Williams was walking along the railroad tracks for unknown reasons when the fast-moving standard gauge locomotive struck him. When emergency responders arrived at the location, they found the victim already dead.

The county’s medical examiner’s office confirmed that the man died from multiple traumas sustained in an accident. None of the occupants in the train at the time of the collision was reported injured.

No other information regarding the crash was released in the accident reports.
