Authorities Name Meghan Dodge as Woman Killed in Swakane Canyon Crash

The identity of the teenager killed in a rollover crash in Swakane Canyon, Washington, has been revealed in new accident reports. The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, April 24, disclosed the fatal victim’s identity as Meghan Dodge, an 18-year-old East Wenatchee resident.

The incident took place at about 7:45 am and involved only a single vehicle driving through Nahahum Canyon Road, about 7.3 miles from Highway 97A.

Investigators determined that the fatal victim was traveling as a driver in a 2016 Toyota Tundra, alongside a 32-year-old woman from De Moines, Washington,

Just as the vehicle, approaching from Cashmere, traveled up the Nahahum Canyon road, and descended Swakane Canyon, it suddenly drifted off the roadway at low speed and overturned.

Officers did not immediately establish what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway or flip over. Dodge was expelled from the car in the process before it eventually came to rest on top of her.

Deputies from Chelan County, as well as an officer from Fish and Wildlife, responded at the scene and found one of the two occupants unresponsive, while the other was down with injuries.

Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after and pronounced the Meghan Dodge dead at the scene. The sole passenger in the vehicle was transported to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are still investigating the fatal accident and would include all further findings in the accident reports upon conclusion.
