Police: Joseph Gazarek Killed In 2-Vehicle Glide Crash

One person was killed and three others injured when a motorcycle and a passenger sedan collided Saturday afternoon near Glide, according to authorities.

Joseph Gazarek, 28, of Roseburg, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday east of Glid, according to the Oregon State Police. The other driver involved in the incident and her two passengers were taken to area hospitals for treatment of possible injuries.

Police said Gazarek was driving west on Oregon 138  on Saturday afternoon when a sedan, operated by Schyler Hamilton, 21, of Roseburg, turned in front of him. Gazarek crashed into the sedan and was ejected from his motorcycle, according to authorities.

Gazarek was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical services personnel. Hamilton and passenger Enrique Gonzales, 18, of Myrtle Creek, and a juvenile male whose name was not released, were transported to an area hospital for treatment of possible injuries, according to authorities.

The westbound lanes of the highway were shut down for several hours while authorities investigated the incident. Police said Gazarek’s speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the wreck.

Gazarek reportedly was wearing a helmet and all three passengers in the sedan were wearing seatbelts.
