Authorities believe a motorcyclist was intoxicated when he crashed his vehicle Wednesday night, causing the death of his wife.
Dawn Allen, 38, of Everett, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 5 in Snohomish County, the Washington State Patrol reported. Her husband, whom authorities did not publicly identify, suffered serious injuries in the wreck.
If troopers are correct in their belief that intoxication was a contributing factor in the wreck, Allen’s husband might be forced to hire a drunk driving lawyer.
Authorities said the husband, a 37-year-old Everett man, was driving north on the interstate at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when he veered off the roadway. The motorcycle crashed near 164th Street Southwest, according to reports.
The impact of the crash flung both riders from the motorcycle.
Dawn Allen was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel, the Washington State Patrol reported. Her husband, meanwhile, was transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries described as serious.
No charges or citations had been announced as of Friday evening. However, the Washington State Patrol has said that they believe intoxication played a role in the incident.
If the investigation supports that theory, the many will need to seek the services of a drunk driving lawyer to provide a defense for possible charges of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence, according to authorities.
