Big Rig Accident on I-40 Results in Fatality and Injury

A rollover accident in the Mojave Desert resulted in the death of a passenger and serious injuries for the driver.  The cargo truck overturned at 4:50 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-40 between Kelbaker Road and Ludlow. The trucker, who driving the rig, was gravely injured while his passenger, who was sleeping in the rear of the truck, was killed. The cargo the truck was carrying spilled all over the road way and required extensive clean up.

Officials were able to confirm that it was a semi that was involved in the accident and that a fatality had occurred at around 6:30 a.m.

The most alarming aspect of these kinds of accidents is that the cause may not be immediately known.  What may look cut and dry could end up being a lot more serious than originally thought.  For example, what looks like driver error could really be an accident caused by defective auto parts.  Many rollovers occur due to a defect in the automaker’s design. That’s why it pays to investigate all traffic  fatalities, even when the cause seems apparent.  If you have traced the death of a loved one to  an auto makers  negligence, you can seek damages via a product liability or wrongful death lawsuit.
