According to Fred Corral of the Los Angeles Police Department and the Lost Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, Melva Chapman has been identified as the woman who lost her life in a North Hollywood hit and run Friday evening. The 50 year old Ms. Chapman, a Sun Valley resident, was using an unmarked crosswalk to make her way across the intersection of Lemp Avenue and Saticoy Street at around 8:20pm on Friday, February 27, 2015.

Witnesses to the accident noted that the driver of the vehicle that hit Ms. Chapman did not stop and offer any assistance to her. The vehicle is described as a white 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. Police are searching for the vehicle and have asked for the public’s help in identifying and finding the person who is responsible for Ms. Chapman’s tragic death.
