Injured Bicyclist Remains Critical Following Bicycle Accident


After a mid-day May 28 crash with an SUV, David Sotelo, a 41-year-old bicyclist, suffered substantial injuries which have required hospital treatment up until today. The bicycle accident occurred at 1:15 pm on Norwalk Boulevard, north of Wadell Street. The bicyclist remains at the St Francis Medical Center, where he was taken immediately after the bicycle accident.

The driver of the SUV involved in the accident, a 56-year-old Whitter woman, did not sustain any injuries from the bicycle accident.

According to police, the investigation is still ongoing, but it has been noted that the bicyclist was traveling northbound when the bicycle accident took place. In an effort to maneuver around parked vehicles, he may have veered towards the SUV, leading to the accident and aformentioned injuries. However, California Highway Patrol has yet to determine who was at fault.
