On Thursday morning, February 27th, in Cloverdale, Sonoma County, California, a two-vehicle collision left a man injured and another dead. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification to the next of kin, but the other man got identified as Jose Torres, 25.
The fatal accident happened in the early hours of the morning, at about 6 a.m. on Highway 101 near Asti Road. According to the report by the California Highway Patrol, a blue Toyota Corolla and a small pickup truck collided on the road.
The pickup was driven by Torres, and the impact of the crash made the Toyota go off the road where it overturned and rested on its roof. A male passenger in the car got killed instantly.
The CHP did not release the name of the driver of the Toyota or if he suffered any life-threatening injuries. Torres, on the other hand, got injured and was taken to Healdsburg Hospital for treatment.
The CHP has not figured out what led to the collision, and they are still investigating. They have asked anyone who witnessed the crash to contact their Santa Rosa office through its listed telephone number.
Accidents are a frequent occurrence in California. Where one occurs, authorities usually look for the driver who was negligent and test to see if the person was impaired in any way when the crash happened.
If there’s evidence of impairment, the person would either get charged with a misdemeanor or felony, depending on intervening circumstances. When this happens, the person faces either jail time, a fine, or both.
