A motorcycle accident in Hemet, California killed a man on Saturday morning, June 20th. The accident report disclosed the identity of the deceased as Scott Burtnes, a 24-year-old Menifee resident.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred near Sage around 7:40 a.m. precisely in the area of Red Mountain Road near Cougar Road. The investigators said that Burtnes was rounding a curve on the road when he came upon a 2001 Dodge Ram making a turn at the intersection.

The victim swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle, but the action caused him to get ejected from the motorcycle. He landed on the asphalt roadway and slid into the pickup truck’s utility trailer. Burtnes died at the scene of the accident, and the truck driver, an 84-year-old Arizona man did not sustain any injury.

The CHP has not released any additional information at this time, but the investigation into the accident remains active.
